Enduring and Contemporary Code-Switching Practices in Northern Australia

In Maningrida, northern Australia, code-switching is a commonplace phenomenon within complex of both longstanding and more recent language practices characterised by high levels linguistic diversity multilingualism. Code-switching observable between local Indigenous languages now also widespread English and/or Kriol. this paper, I consider whether general predictions about the nature functioning account for in Maningrida context. consider: (i) what patterns characterise different Australian region, as opposed to an Kriol or English? (ii) how do distinctions align with constraints from dominant theoretical frameworks? Need we look beyond these factors explain patterns? Results indicate that predictions, including effects typological congruence, many tendencies data.
